A Relaxing Private Island Paradise in the Bahamas

If you’re sailing with MSC Cruises, one of the most anticipated stops on your itinerary will likely be Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Located about 65 miles east of Miami in The Bahamas, Ocean Cay is a beautifully restored island that focuses on natural beauty, marine conservation, and a relaxed beach experience.

Unlike many cruise line private islands filled with water parks and large attractions, Ocean Cay offers a more peaceful and nature-focused escape. Ocean Cay was once an industrial sand excavation site before MSC Cruises transformed it into a protected marine reserve. The restoration project removed industrial infrastructure, planted thousands of trees, restored coral habitats, and created a beautiful island focused on environmental sustainability.

Because the ship docks directly at the island, there are no tenders required, making it incredibly easy to step off the ship and start exploring.

One of the true hidden gems of Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is Bimini Beach. Located a bit farther from the central arrival area, this beach is quieter and offers some of the best snorkeling on the island.

The clear Bahamian water makes it easy to spot tropical fish and marine life right from the shoreline. The area also benefits from MSC’s marine restoration efforts, which have helped rebuild coral habitats around the island.
