Savannah Unscripted

Why Savannah?

Slow Strolls, Southern Flavor & Stories You Didn’t See Coming

Savannah is the kind of place that doesn’t need an itinerary—it just needs your time. It’s a city built for wandering, where every shaded square, historic home, and cobblestone street feels like a moment you didn’t plan but won’t forget.

This is where you:

  • Walk more, rush less
  • Eat really well
  • Sip something cold while exploring
  • Let the day unfold instead of forcing it

Savannah isn’t about doing everything—it’s about experiencing it.

Explore the City

The Historic District (Where You Want to Be)

This is Savannah’s heart—and where your trip really happens.

Designed around 22 historic squares, this area is incredibly walkable and filled with:

  • Moss-draped oak trees
  • Historic homes and churches
  • Quiet benches and hidden corners

Must-see stops:

  • Forsyth Park – Iconic fountain + open green space
  • Chippewa Square – Famous Forrest Gump filming spot
  • Cathedral of St. John the Baptist – One of the most stunning interiors in the city

Kristin On The Go Tip: Don’t over-plan this area. The best moments happen when you just wander.

River Street (Waterfront Energy)

Running along the Savannah River, this area feels completely different from the quiet squares.

  • Cobblestone streets
  • Historic warehouses turned shops and bars
  • Constant energy—music, crowds, and river views

It’s the perfect place to:

  • Grab a drink and stroll
  • Watch massive cargo ships pass by
  • Catch sunset along the water

City Market (Easy, Lively, Fun)

A four-block open-air district filled with:

  • Local artists and galleries
  • Restaurants and bars
  • Live music throughout the day and night

It’s an easy place to spend a few hours without trying.

Starland District (Local Favorite)

A little more under-the-radar, but worth it if you want a different side of Savannah.

  • Trendy shops and vintage finds
  • Coffee spots and creative spaces
  • Less crowded, more local feel

Where to Eat

Savannah is a food city—especially if you love Southern flavors and coastal dishes.

Southern Classics (Must-Do Experiences)

  • The Olde Pink House
    Historic setting, elevated Southern cuisine
Don’t miss the shrimp & grits
  • Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room
    Family-style dining with shared tables
Go early—lines are part of the experience
  • The Grey
Upscale dining in a restored bus station
Perfect for a planned night out

Casual + Fun Spots

  • Treylor Park Creative comfort food with a twist
  • Vic's on the River River views + classic Southern dishes

Sweet Treats

  • Leopold's Ice Cream

               A Savannah staple—expect a line

  • River Street Sweets

Fresh pralines made right in front of you

A True Savannah Experience

The Pirates' House (A Kristin on the Go fave!)

One of the oldest buildings in Georgia, dating back to 1753, and easily one of the most unique dining experiences in the city.

Originally a gathering place for sailors and pirates, this spot is full of history—and a few legends.

  • Underground tunnels (used to “recruit” sailors)
  • Connections to Treasure Island
  • Multiple historic dining rooms

Go for the experience. It’s classic Savannah—storytelling, atmosphere, and history all in one.

Drinks & Nightlife

 Savannah makes nightlife easy—and fun.

Thanks to the open-container law, you can grab a drink and explore at the same time.

  • Savannah Taphouse – Rooftop views
  • Alley Cat Lounge – Speakeasy vibe
  • Wet Willie's – Frozen drinks + party energy

Best experience: Grab a cocktail and wander through the squares at night.

  • Incredible meals
  • Unexpected moments

You don’t conquer Savannah…
You experience it.
